When A Wife Contacts A Men’s Coach About Her Husband
Video overview: If you’re a wife watching these videos and wondering whether you can reach out about your husband, the answer is honest but probably not what you expect. We hear from a lot of women who are tired, hurt, and hoping the man they love will finally get help, but the real change only starts when he decides he wants it for himself.

Every now and then, a wife finds our videos before her husband does.

She watches one, then another, and something in her says, “Yes. This is what I’ve been trying to tell him. This is what I wish he understood. This is what I wish someone could say to him in a way he might actually hear.”

Then she wonders if she should email me.

She wonders if she can explain what is happening in the marriage, tell me about the fights, the distance, the lack of affection, the resentment, the loneliness, the years of trying, and then maybe I can somehow help him see what she has been trying to say all along.

I understand why a wife would want to do that.

When you’re exhausted from carrying the emotional weight of a relationship, it makes sense that you’d want someone else to reach him. You may love him deeply and still feel like you’re out of patience. You may see the good man in him and still feel worn down by his defensiveness, neediness, anger, passivity, avoidance, or confusion.

You may not want to leave.

You may not know how much longer you can stay.

That is a painful place to be.

So yes, we do hear from wives. A lot. And I always have compassion for the woman writing the email because usually she is not trying to control her husband. She is trying to find hope.

But here is the honest truth.

You cannot do this work for him.

You can point him toward support. You can share a video. You can tell him what you feel, what you want, what you will no longer participate in, and what kind of relationship you want to build. You can be honest about the seriousness of where things are.

But he has to choose to become a different man.

Not because you forced him.

Not because you begged him.

Not because you sent me the perfect email and I somehow talked him into it.

He has to feel the weight of his own life and decide, “I want to understand myself. I want to grow. I want to become calmer, clearer, stronger, and more honest. I want to stop making my wife responsible for my emotional wellbeing. I want to learn how to lead myself.”

That choice has to come from inside him.

And brother, if you’re the husband listening to this, I want you to hear me clearly too.

If your wife has sent you one of our videos, or if she has been quietly hoping you’ll get help, that does not mean you’re a terrible man. It does not mean you’re broken. It does not mean she has already given up on you.

It may mean she is tired of being the only one trying to understand what is happening.

A lot of good men wait too long. They wait until she has no tears left. They wait until she stops arguing. They wait until she asks for space. They wait until she says she is unhappy, or not in love, or unsure whether she can keep doing this.

Then suddenly he wants to fix it.

I get that too.

Pain gets our attention.

But the deeper work is not just trying to win her back. The deeper work is becoming a man you respect, whether she is warm today or distant today. It is learning how to tell the truth, listen without defending, handle fear without collapsing, and love without clinging.

That is men’s work.

And it usually works best with other men.

Your wife cannot take you there. She may love you. She may believe in you. She may want the best for you. But she cannot be your coach, your mother, your therapist, your emotional regulator, and your lover all at the same time.

That burden will crush attraction.

A wife needs to feel that her husband has somewhere else to take his fear, confusion, shame, and panic. She needs to feel that he is not using her as the only mirror for his worth. She needs to see him choosing his own growth without making her responsible for dragging him into it.

That is where respect can begin to return.

So if you’re a wife watching this, yes, you can reach out. You can ask questions. You can share what you’re seeing. But my best advice will usually be simple: don’t try to manage his growth for him. Tell him the truth. Share the resource. Then let him decide who he wants to be.

And if you’re the husband, don’t make her ask ten more times.

Don’t wait until the marriage is on fire before you become curious about your part in it. Don’t turn her pain into another debate about whether she is being fair. Don’t dismiss the fact that she is looking for help because she may still want something better with you.

That matters.

This episode is really for both of you.

For the wife who wonders if anyone can help her husband hear what she has been trying to say.

And for the husband who may need to stop seeing help as criticism and start seeing it as an invitation back into his own strength.

Because the goal is not to make a man feel ashamed.

The goal is to help him become the kind of man he already knows he is capable of being.

Let him choose the work

If you’re a husband who has been sent this video, or a wife hoping he’ll finally get support, we can help him take the next step without shame or pressure. Real change starts when a man decides he wants to become stronger for himself.
