What a Golden Retriever Can Teach Us About Taking Our Balls Back
Video overview: If you keep waiting for your wife, your marriage, your money, your mood, or your circumstances to change before you start living the way you really want, you’re giving your power away. This video is about deciding who you’re going to be now — not someday when everything finally lines up.

A lot of men are waiting.

They’re waiting for the marriage to feel better. Waiting for their wife to soften. Waiting for more sex, more affection, more appreciation, more peace, more certainty, more money, more confidence, more time.

And while they wait, they stop living.

They keep telling themselves, “When this changes, then I’ll be different. When she changes, then I’ll be happier. When the relationship feels safe again, then I’ll relax. When I know where this marriage is going, then I’ll start acting like the man I want to be.”

Brother, that sounds reasonable.

But it’s a trap.

Because now your life is always somewhere else. It’s out there in the future. It’s sitting on the other side of her mood, her desire, her approval, her forgiveness, her willingness, or her change of heart.

And that means you’re not actually living the life you want.

You’re waiting to be granted access to it.

This video is about a very different idea.

What if the life and relationship you really want is not just something you get later?

What if it’s something you begin living from right now?

That doesn’t mean you pretend everything is perfect. It doesn’t mean you ignore real pain in your marriage. It doesn’t mean you act as if disconnection, resentment, rejection, or conflict don’t matter.

They matter.

But they don’t get to decide who you are.

That’s the part most men miss.

A man can spend years trying to get the right relationship, get the right response, get the right apology, get the right sex life, get the right emotional safety, get the right outcome. And underneath all of that effort is a quiet belief that he cannot be the man he wants to be until life gives him what he wants first.

That belief will keep him small.

It will keep him reactive. It will keep him needy. It will keep him looking at his wife like she holds the keys to his confidence, joy, courage, and freedom.

She doesn’t.

And she probably doesn’t want that job.

When I talk about living the life you want, I’m not talking about fantasy. I’m not talking about quitting your job, ignoring your responsibilities, or blowing up your marriage because you’re tired of discomfort.

I’m talking about the internal decision to stop postponing your own leadership.

What kind of man would you be if you decided today that you were done waiting?

Would you tell the truth more cleanly?

Would you stop sulking when she doesn’t respond the way you hoped?

Would you take better care of your body?

Would you bring more play into your home?

Would you stop asking permission to be happy?

Would you stop treating every hard conversation like a threat to your identity?

Would you start showing up with more warmth, strength, honesty, and direction because that’s who you choose to be?

That is where power lives.

Not in controlling her.

Not in manipulating the relationship.

Not in pretending you don’t care.

Power lives in the moment you realize, “I can come from the man I want to be before I have proof that everything will work out.”

That’s a massive shift.

Most men think confidence comes after results. They think they’ll feel confident when she wants them again, when the marriage improves, when the arguments stop, when the bedroom comes back, when they feel appreciated.

But real confidence begins when you decide how you’re going to live before the outcome is guaranteed.

That’s why this matters so much in marriage.

If you wait for your wife to make you feel like a strong man, you’ll become more anxious, more resentful, and more dependent on her reactions. You’ll start measuring every smile, sigh, text, rejection, and tone of voice as evidence of whether you’re okay.

That’s not freedom.

That’s emotional captivity.

And it’s exhausting for both of you.

The man who starts living from his own decision becomes different. He still loves. He still cares. He still wants connection. But he no longer walks around begging life to prove he’s allowed to feel good.

He starts creating again.

He creates his mood. He creates his health. He creates his friendships. He creates his courage. He creates honest conversations. He creates little moments of play, truth, affection, strength, and direction.

He stops waiting for the perfect emotional weather.

That’s what your wife can feel.

She can feel when you’re waiting for her to become the source of your aliveness. She can also feel when you’ve come back to yourself and started living from something stronger.

This video will help you see that the life you want is not just a future destination.

It’s a way of being.

It’s a decision.

It’s a choice you make in the middle of the mess, not after the mess is gone.

And that choice asks something of you.

It asks you to stop hiding behind circumstances. It asks you to stop using her distance as an excuse to abandon your own life. It asks you to stop saying, “I’ll become that man when things get better.”

No.

Become that man now.

Not perfectly.

Not dramatically.

But honestly.

Start living from the man you already know you want to be.
